About the Role
The Line QA is responsible for ensuring that all products meet required quality and food safety standards. This role ensures all CCP checks are completed accurately and on time, and that finished products comply with internal specifications, customer requirements, and legal standards.
Key responsibilities
Critical Control Point (CCP) Checks
- Metal detection (grating): start-up, end of run, and every 30 minutes
- Metal detection (processing): start-up, end of run, and every 30 minutes
- Temperature control monitoring, including blast chilling
Finished Product Checks
- Label verification: start, middle, and end of production
- Residual oxygen checks: start, end, and every 30 minutes
- Pack integrity checks: start, end, and every 30 minutes
- Weight checks: start, end, and every 30 minutes
Quality Assurance & Documentation
- Aseptically sample products for microbiological and organoleptic analysis
- Ensure grating quality of all finished products is accurately documented
- Ensure customer samples are correctly labelled and produced
- Update traceability documentation, including pallet information, production date, best-before date, and quantities produced
- Print box and pallet labels for finished products
- Perform final QC checks on all finished pallets, ensuring correct stacking and pallet type
- Oversee packing operations to identify and address any quality issues
- Report contamination risks and non-conforming products to management promptly
- Verify weekly cleaning schedules and complete relevant record sheets
- Verify weekly seal integrity and weight checks and complete documentation
- Rotate between Processing QA duties weekly
- Rotate between Grating QA duties fortnightly
Production Duties – Reporting to the Production Shift Manager
- Record live production timings
- Assist with packing, palletising, and block cleaning during downtime, breaks, and holidays
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised workstation and packing area
- Ensure required packaging materials are available and delivered on time
- Support the Production Shift Manager with organising staff break times
- Manage overruns by understanding the production plan, matrix, and stock sheets; ensure overruns are correctly recorded and stored
- Support the packing team during busy periods (e.g. replenishing boxes, clearing tables)
- Assist with organising palletising, seal integrity checks, and cleaning activities
- Ensure consumables (e.g. labels, tape) are available and replenished in a timely manner
- Ensure all orders are closed on the system at the end of each shift
Education and training
Level 2 Food Safety
About You
Previous experience in a food manufacturing quality or quality control role.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent time management and organisational skills
- Able to work independently while being an effective team member
- Confident decision-maker with a proactive, can-do attitude
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn
- Ensures food safety and quality standards are consistently upheld
